A tragic accident in Chembur, Mumbai claimed the life of an 11-year-old schoolboy after a large tree crashed onto a school bus carrying children home on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim, Vihan Shrivastav, was travelling home from school when the tree suddenly fell on a Universal School bus.
The accident left four other students injured, although doctors have confirmed that they are in stable condition.
According to reports, 13 children were on board when the tree collapsed onto the moving bus.
The bus conductor, along with local residents, immediately rushed to rescue the trapped children before emergency teams reached the spot.
Rescuers shifted five children, including Vihan, to Zen Multispeciality Hospital. Doctors declared Vihan dead on arrival. Doctors are currently treating the four other children, who sustained minor injuries in the accident.

Mother Clutches Son’s Cricket Bat in Heartbreaking Grief
The tragedy left Vihan’s family devastated. Hours after the accident, emotional scenes emerged from his home, where his mother, Juhi Shrivastav, sat quietly holding her son’s cricket bat.
Despite relatives and friends trying to console her, she reportedly remained in deep shock. According to those close to the family, Juhi continues to believe that Vihan will return from school and head out to play cricket, just as he did every evening.
A Budding Cricketer with Big Dreams
Family friend and neighbour Raji Malhotra remembered Vihan as a cheerful, disciplined, and talented child who loved cricket.
She recalled that Vihan frequently visited her home and asked her son, Dev, to teach him new cricket skills. He often spoke enthusiastically about his dream of becoming a professional cricketer.
Malhotra also described the close bond between Vihan and his mother. She said Juhi constantly checked on her son through video calls whenever he was away and cared deeply about his well-being.
Speaking about the family’s grief, Malhotra said Juhi is still unable to accept the heartbreaking loss. She reportedly continues to hold Vihan’s cricket bat, repeating that he still has to go out and play.
People are seen expressing and giving condolence through X and other social media platforms.
Mumbai Mayor Visits Hospital
Following the tragic incident, Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde visited Zen Multispeciality Hospital to meet the injured children and offer support to their families.
