A senior government official from Bangladesh stated that Hindus currently have greater protection than they did under the government of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In a special interview with India Today, the press secretary for the Muhammad Yunus administration, Shafiqul Alam, stated that an “industrial scale misinformation campaign” was being conducted by Indian media to promote false stories about minorities being attacked in Bangladesh.
“Hindus are safe here. They are better safeguarded now than they were under Sheikh Hasina’s rule. What we are observing here is a large-scale misinformation campaign that is coming from India,” Alam stated.
Following the August downfall of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government, there has been a series of assaults on temples and a repression of individuals belonging to the Hindu community. The detainment of three Hindu priests has sparked a new surge of turmoil in the neighboring nation, as minorities take to the streets in demonstration throughout Bangladesh.

Alam stated that significant abuses against Hindus occurred during the rule of the Awami League government, yet no media outlets reported on it at that time.
“Since it took place during Sheikh Hasina’s tenure, there isn’t a single article from any Indian media.” According to him, there hasn’t been one report from any diaspora organization, and no one in the British Parliament has brought up this matter.
Disputing the claim of a crackdown on Iskcon, the official emphasized that the government actually deployed troops to the centers of the religious organization for safety. “We ensured that Hindus were able to celebrate Durga Puja…” Have we prohibited Iskcon? “We actually deployed forces to protect Iskcon temples,” Alam commented, designating Iskcon as a “religious organization.”
