In the first reaction to the Pahalgam terror attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday declared that India remains steadfast in its commitment against terrorism and that his government will chase the perpetrators “to the ends of the Earth.” He also guaranteed that all measures will be taken to ensure justice is served.
On Wednesday, India revealed a range of strict diplomatic actions against Pakistan and chose to halt the Indus-Waters Treaty that regulates the distribution of the Indus River’s waters.
The progress occurred following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s chairing of a Cabinet Committee on Security meeting due to the deadly assault that claimed 26 lives — 25 Indians and one Nepalese national.
Meanwhile, the central government has summoned an all-party meeting for Thursday following the cowardly assault on tourists in Pahalgam that occurred on Tuesday. As per reports, External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar is expected to attend the all-party meeting planned for the evening. He will inform the political leaders regarding the measures declared by the Union government on Wednesday to isolate Pakistan.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Thursday updated President Droupadi Murmu regarding the Pahalgam terror incident and likely on India’s response toward punishing Pakistan and those responsible for terrorism.
Earlier today, officials from the Ministry of External Affairs briefed ambassadors from specific countries regarding the Pahalgam attack, sources reported.
Diplomats from different nations, such as Germany, Japan, Poland, the UK, and Russia, came to the office of the Ministry of External Affairs, situated in the South Block, where they received an update on the Pahalgam terror attack.
