September 28: The Income Tax Department on Monday conducted simultaneous searches at around 12 locations in Mumbai linked to actor Rakul Preet Singh, filmmaker Vashu Bhagnani and Panorama Studios, according to multiple reports.
The searches are being carried out by the Mumbai Income Tax Department as part of an inquiry into suspected financial and tax irregularities. Reports citing sources said investigators are examining financial transactions connected with film production, overseas shoots and foreign distribution, including whether funds were remitted abroad in compliance with tax regulations. The department has not publicly disclosed the amount under scrutiny or announced any findings so far.
Income Tax teams are understood to be examining financial documents and transaction records at premises connected with the individuals and companies. Some reports have also linked the operation to premises associated with Pooja Entertainment, the production banner founded by Vashu Bhagnani. Panorama Studios, the production and distribution company associated with filmmaker Kumar Mangat Pathak, is also among the entities reportedly covered by the searches.

The reported focus on overseas film-related transactions has not yet been accompanied by an official finding that any individual or company violated tax law. Rakul Preet Singh is married to actor and producer Jackky Bhagnani, Vashu Bhagnani’s son. Bhagnani’s production business includes Pooja Entertainment. Panorama Studios is a Mumbai-based film production and distribution company associated with the Drishyam franchise.
As of Monday afternoon, there was no publicly reported response from Rakul Preet Singh, Jackky Bhagnani or Vashu Bhagnani to the searches.
Separate 2025 drugs case involving Rakul’s brother
The Income Tax searches are unrelated to a separate narcotics investigation involving Rakul Preet Singh’s brother, Aman Preet Singh, in Hyderabad.
In December 2025, Hyderabad police identified Aman Preet Singh as a person whose name surfaced during the investigation into a narcotics case following the arrest of two alleged drug suppliers. Police had seized about 43.7 grams of cocaine and 11.5 grams of MDMA during an operation on December 19. Police subsequently described Aman as a suspected regular consumer and launched efforts to trace him.
The Telangana High Court later considered his petition challenging the FIR. In January 2026, the court declined interim relief while the matter remained pending.
That narcotics case has no reported connection with Monday’s Income Tax searches in Mumbai.
