In Fresh Video, Assam Minister’s Daughter Strongly Backs CJP Stir

The latest footage emerged days after another video allegedly showed Dibisa Mahanta raising abusive slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The incident has sparked nationwide debate, placing the ruling BJP-AGP alliance under political pressure.

Guwahati, July 25, 2026: A fresh video purportedly showing Dibisa Mahanta, daughter of Assam Cabinet Minister and senior Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leader Keshab Mahanta, participating in a student-led protest organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has gone viral on social media, reigniting political controversy and raising fresh questions over the minister’s earlier explanation regarding her presence at the demonstration.

The latest footage, allegedly recorded during the CJP protest at Chachal in Guwahati on July 23, shows Dibisa Mahanta interacting with fellow protesters and questioning the government’s handling of the nationwide examination paper leak controversy. The video has spread rapidly across social media platforms, drawing widespread attention and fuelling fresh debate over the involvement of family members of senior political leaders in anti-government protests.

The development comes days after another viral video showed Dibisa Mahanta allegedly raising abusive slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the same protest. The clip triggered sharp political reactions across the country, particularly because her father is a senior minister in the BJP-led Assam government and a prominent leader of the AGP, an NDA ally.

The CJP-led protest in Guwahati was organised in solidarity with the ongoing student agitation at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Demonstrators have been demanding a judicial probe into the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, sweeping reforms in the examination system, accountability for those responsible, and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Videos circulating online from the protest showed Dibisa Mahanta seated among student activists, holding placards and participating in slogans alongside protesters. In one widely shared clip, she was allegedly heard raising an abusive slogan directed at Prime Minister Modi, sparking a nationwide political row and intense criticism on social media.

Following the controversy, Keshab Mahanta defended his daughter, claiming that she had been persuaded by friends to accompany them on the pretext of attending tuition classes and was unaware that she was being taken to a political protest. The minister maintained that she had not knowingly participated in the demonstration and appealed against drawing political conclusions from the incident.

However, the emergence of the latest video has prompted fresh scrutiny of that explanation. Critics argue that the footage appears to show her actively engaging with protesters and questioning the government’s policies, rather than merely being an unwitting bystander. The new visuals have intensified political debate, with opposition leaders and social media users questioning whether the minister’s earlier statement accurately reflected the events.

The controversy has also placed the AGP in an uncomfortable position. As a long-standing ally of the BJP in Assam, the regional party now finds itself dealing with a politically sensitive issue involving one of its senior-most leaders and his family. While the BJP has not issued any formal statement on the latest video, political observers say the episode has generated considerable embarrassment within the ruling alliance.

New video of Assam Minister Keshab Mahanta’s daughter goes viral now from the CJP’s Protest in Guwahati, questioning the Government.

Previously, her Minister Father stated that she was lured to the protest by her friends in the pretext of tuition.

Neither Dibisa Mahanta nor Keshab Mahanta had issued a fresh public response to the latest video at the time of publication. The authenticity of the viral clips has not been independently verified, although they continue to circulate widely across multiple social media platforms.

The episode has added a new dimension to the growing nationwide debate surrounding the student-led protests over alleged examination irregularities. It also highlights how social media continues to shape political narratives, with viral videos increasingly influencing public discourse and placing public figures under intense scrutiny.

As protests continue in several parts of the country, the controversy surrounding the Assam minister’s daughter is expected to remain a talking point, underscoring the political sensitivities surrounding youth movements, public dissent and alliance politics ahead of a potentially turbulent period.
