October 19: Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff was left shaken after unidentified gunmen opened fire in Mumbai on Sunday evening, with photographs taken after the incident showing the actor with a bandaged right arm and dressings on his shoulder and chest. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Shroff’s residence late Sunday night to enquire about his condition and assure the family of the government’s support.
Shroff’s mother, Ayesha Shroff, was present during the visit. The photographs offered the first glimpse of the actor following the shooting, which has raised fresh concerns about the safety of Bollywood personalities in Mumbai.
The firing took place at around 7 pm on Sunday as Shroff was leaving a football club or park area in Juhu. According to reports, unidentified assailants fired five rounds. The actor escaped without bullet wounds but sustained minor injuries to his hand from gunpowder and shattered glass. Two other people, including his driver, were also injured.
After meeting the family, Shinde described the incident as serious and condemnable. He said Shroff was fortunate to have escaped without major injuries, although his driver had been hurt.

“I met with the actor; he has injuries on his left hand caused by gunpowder and shards of glass. Both he and his mother are quite shaken,” Shinde told reporters.
The Deputy Chief Minister assured the family that the state government stood firmly against threats and intimidation directed at public figures. He said such incidents would not be tolerated and that the authorities would take the necessary action.

Shinde also issued a stern warning against any attempt to revive Mumbai’s violent underworld era.
“Kisi ki bhi dadagiri Mumbai me nahi chalegi,” he said, making it clear that no one would be allowed to exercise strong-arm tactics in the city.
Recalling the gang-related violence that plagued Mumbai in the 1990s, Shinde said the Mumbai Police had brought such activities under control around 1995. He asserted that the government would not allow the city to return to those days of fear and intimidation.
AICWA Condemn Attack on Tiger Shroff
The incident drew a strong response from the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA), which condemned the shooting and questioned the safety of members of the film industry.
“Today it is Tiger Shroff. Who is next? When a celebrity is not safe in the heart of Mumbai, how can an ordinary Mumbaikar feel safe?” the association asked in a statement.
AICWA cited a series of previous incidents involving Bollywood personalities, including the firing outside Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra, the stabbing attack on Saif Ali Khan at his home, shots fired outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence and repeated attacks on comedian Kapil Sharma’s cafe.
The association alleged that gangsters were attempting to create an atmosphere of fear among Bollywood personalities, potentially to facilitate extortion. It questioned the effectiveness of the authorities’ response, arguing that repeated incidents and claims of responsibility by criminal gangs demanded stronger action.
Drawing parallels with Mumbai’s underworld era of the 1990s, AICWA called on Maharashtra Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis to ensure the strictest possible action against those responsible. Its demands included the arrest of the shooters and the alleged masterminds, dismantling extortion networks, adequate security for film personalities and their families, and accountability for any lapses that allowed such incidents to recur.
The association maintained that Mumbai must not be allowed to slide back into an era when film personalities lived under the shadow of underworld threats.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg, the firing occurred within the jurisdiction of Juhu Police Station as Shroff was leaving the area. Police have launched an investigation and deployed teams to track down the alleged shooters.
The motive behind the attack and the identity of those responsible have yet to be established publicly. Further details are awaited.
