Narendra Modi has shown optimism after India’s outstanding results in the inaugural QS World Future Skills Index, calling it a reflection of the nation’s dedication to empowering its youth and fostering innovation.
In a tweet, he wrote “This is heartening to see! Over the last decade, our Government has worked on strengthening our youth by equipping them with skills that enable them to become self-reliant and create wealth. We have also leveraged the power of technology to make India a hub for innovation and enterprise.”
The QS World Future Skills Index assesses nations according to their preparedness for the evolving needs of the global employment market. It emphasizes the way education systems and economies can work together to promote innovation, sustainability in competition, and workforce advancement.
India achieved the 25th rank worldwide in the Index, standing out in the “Future of Work” section with the second-best score (99.1) globally, following the United States. The report acknowledges India’s significant capacity to draw venture capital and its willingness to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) into its workforce.

Still scope for improvement
Nonetheless, the report also highlights areas in need of enhancement. Although Indian universities rank highly in global standings, the higher education system should enhance the training of graduates in AI, sustainable technologies, and digital innovation. It is essential to synchronize research and industry initiatives to address new global trends such as sustainable infrastructure and eco-friendly strategies.
Matteo Quacquarelli, QS Vice President for Strategy and Analytics, emphasized India’s distinctive strengths, saying, “India’s remarkable GDP growth in recent years, evolving economy, youthful population, and vibrant start-up ecosystem, are placing the nation on the global stage and paving a stronger path to success.”
