Pune, June 27, 2026 — Investigators probing the alleged murder of Ketan Agarwal at Maharashtra’s Lohagad Fort have uncovered a possible cricket connection after questioning the brother of prime accused Siya Goyal, who disclosed how he first came to know her alleged lover and co-accused, Chetan Chaudhary.
According to police, Siya Goyal’s brother, Sahil Goyal, was questioned for more than 10 hours as investigators sought to reconstruct the relationship between the two accused. During the interrogation, Sahil reportedly told police that he had met Chaudhary at one of his cricket matches, where his sister frequently accompanied him.
Police said Sahil later met Chaudhary again at a Diwali party hosted by a mutual friend last year. Investigators believe that following this meeting, Siya Goyal and Chaudhary became significantly closer.
The revelation contrasts with earlier statements made by Siya’s parents, who had claimed they were unaware of Chaudhary or any relationship between him and their daughter.
Investigators have also examined the call detail records (CDRs) of the two accused, which reportedly show more than 2,000 phone conversations between them since January this year. The cumulative duration of these calls is estimated at around 238 hours, indicating frequent communication in the months leading up to the incident.
Sahil also reportedly told police that if his sister had expressed any unwillingness to marry Ketan Agarwal, the family would have cancelled the wedding. His statement differs from the allegations made by investigators that Siya allegedly conspired with Chaudhary to eliminate her fiancé because she no longer wanted to proceed with the marriage.

Siya Goyal’s mother, Pooja Goyal, had earlier maintained that her daughter never voiced objections to the proposed marriage and said she had neither met nor spoken to Chaudhary.
Meanwhile, Siya Goyal’s lawyer has maintained that Chaudhary was merely her friend and has disputed the prosecution’s version of events.
Police officials said they are also recording statements from other members of Siya Goyal’s family as the investigation progresses.
Investigators have further alleged that both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary deleted WhatsApp chats, Instagram conversations, and other digital records from their mobile phones in an attempt to destroy evidence. The deleted data has been sent for forensic examination, and experts are attempting to recover the conversations.
The investigation has additionally revealed that the two accused allegedly met for about an hour at a café in Pune’s Lullanagar area on June 17, a day before Ketan Agarwal’s death. Police are now examining whether the meeting was used to plan the alleged murder or discuss other aspects of the case.
Ketan Agarwal and Siya Goyal were scheduled to marry in November.
According to investigators, Siya allegedly lured Agarwal to Lohagad Fort on June 18, where she and Chaudhary are accused of pushing him off a cliff, causing his death.
The police have said that roles of both Siya and Chetan in the alleged murder of Ketan have been established during the investigation.
The high-profile case has attracted widespread attention across Maharashtra. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis described the incident as “shocking” and assured the victim’s family that the state government would ensure a thorough investigation and bring those responsible to justice.
The investigation remains ongoing, with police continuing to examine digital evidence, forensic findings, and witness statements to establish the sequence of events leading to Agarwal’s death.
