NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met the Bharatiya Janata Party’s newly constituted national office-bearers at the party headquarters in New Delhi, marking his first formal interaction with the leadership team assembled under newly appointed BJP president Nitin Nabin.
The meeting, which included a group photograph with the Prime Minister, marked the formal beginning of the new national team’s tenure and comes days after the BJP announced a sweeping overhaul of its organisational structure.
The 65-member team includes 51 new faces, making it the party’s most extensive organisational restructuring since 2015, when Amit Shah was BJP president. The changes are being seen as a significant attempt to inject fresh leadership into the organisation while retaining experienced hands in key positions.

The new team brings together leaders with administrative, electoral and organisational experience from across states and regions, with the BJP seeking to strengthen its organisational machinery ahead of the political challenges and electoral contests ahead.
Former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and former RSS functionary Ram Madhav have been appointed national vice presidents. Former Union minister Smriti Irani has been inducted as one of the party’s eight national general secretaries.
B. L. Santhosh will continue as national general secretary (organisation), retaining a key position at the centre of the BJP’s organisational apparatus. He will work alongside general secretaries Vinod Tawde, Sunil Bansal, Biplab Kumar Deb, Gajendra Patel, Satish Poonia, Harish Dwivedi and Sanjay Bhatia.
The revamped team also seeks to expand representation across social and regional groups. It includes 12 women and six representatives from minority communities, reflecting the party’s stated emphasis on broader representation within its organisational structure.

Union minister Piyush Goyal has returned to the post of national treasurer, a position he held before joining the Union Cabinet in 2014. His return brings a senior and experienced leader back into the BJP’s central organisational team.
Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh has been appointed central office in-charge, giving him responsibility for the functioning of the party’s headquarters and its organisational coordination.
The BJP has also announced new leadership for its two major frontal organisations. Hemang Joshi of Gujarat will head the BJP Yuva Morcha, while Roop Kumari Choudhary of Chhattisgarh has been appointed president of the Mahila Morcha.
The meeting with Modi assumes significance as Nitin Nabin settles into his role as BJP president and begins working with a substantially refreshed national organisation. With a large majority of the office-bearers being new, the reorganisation represents a generational and organisational shift while preserving continuity through experienced leaders in crucial positions.
The new team is expected to play a key role in strengthening the BJP’s presence at the grassroots, coordinating the party’s state units and translating the central leadership’s political and organisational priorities into action across the country.
