A 19-year-old NEET aspirant, identified as Kamakshi, allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Rajasthan’s Behror on Tuesday. According to police and her family, she had been under stress after her National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) re-examination did not go as expected.
NEET Re-Examination Performance Caused Distress
Police said Kamakshi had appeared for the NEET re-examination held on June 21 and was deeply upset over her performance. She had long aspired to become a doctor and had been preparing for the highly competitive medical entrance examination with that dream in mind.
Family members told investigators that she had been anxious and emotionally distressed in the days following the examination.
Mother Discovered Her at Home
The incident came to light at around 1:30 pm when Kamakshi’s mother, a government school teacher, returned home and found her unresponsive inside a room. She immediately informed her husband, Jagdish Prasad, who works as a teacher at a private school.
The family rushed her to Park Hospital in Behror, where doctors declared her dead.
Police Register Case, Investigation Underway
The Behror Police have registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that the death was a suicide. Police officials have recorded statements from the family members and are continuing their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Post-Mortem Conducted
Following the incident, police reached the hospital, took custody of the body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The body was handed over to the family later in the evening after the post-mortem was completed.
Kamakshi Was the Eldest of Three Siblings
Kamakshi was the eldest among three siblings. Her mother is employed as a government school teacher, while her father teaches at a private school. According to her family, she had been committed to pursuing a career in medicine and had worked hard for the NEET examination.
