Addressing the second day of the 18th BRICS Summit, which he is chairing, Modi said the grouping had evolved into an important platform for cooperation and inclusive global governance.
“We warmly welcome you all to the extended family of BRICS. Today, this auditorium is bringing together different continents, cultures and development journeys. This is a testament to the growing strength, appeal and unprecedented trust in BRICS,” Modi said.
He said India’s BRICS presidency had focused on four key pillars — resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability.
“With your cooperation and support, we have been able to transform our shared vision into a win-win cooperation,” he said.

Modi also warned that growing tensions around the world were having an increasingly broad impact on ordinary people.
“The number of tensions in the world is continuously increasing, and they are having a very negative and widespread impact on the lives of ordinary people,” he said.
Citing pandemics, climate-related disasters and disruptions to global supply chains, Modi said the interconnected nature of the modern world meant that no crisis could remain confined to one region.

“Pandemics, climate disasters and supply chain disruptions have shown that in today’s interconnected world, no crisis remains confined to one region,” he said.
Against this backdrop, he said BRICS had placed particular emphasis on resilience — identifying risks early, preparing for them and responding rapidly when crises emerge.
As part of that effort, BRICS members have agreed to develop an integrated early-warning system for infectious-disease prevention and response. Guidelines have also been prepared to facilitate the integration of early-warning data for disaster management.
Modi said such initiatives reflected BRICS’ broader effort to turn shared challenges into practical cooperation among its expanding membership.
