Ten Indian nationals were denied entry into Malaysia despite the visa-free provision because they failed to meet immigration screening requirements upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Malaysian authorities conducted a seven-hour inspection of nearly 400 passengers and rejected 99 individuals, including the Indians, due to suspicious travel histories, unclear visit purposes, or lack of proper documentation.

Another Side of passport strength.

Malaysia's oldest newspaper which also a well established one has recently published an article about 99 foreign tourists being denied entry.

They denied entry to 80 Bangladeshi men, 10 Indians and 9 Pakistani.

While the visa-free policy allows entry without prior visa approval, it does not guarantee automatic access. Travelers are still subject to standard immigration checks, including verification of return tickets, financial means, and completion of the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC).

Why entry was refused despite visa‑free policy?

  • Visa‑free doesn’t guarantee automatic entry: Being eligible for visa‑free entry means you don’t need a visa in advance, but entry at the border is still discretionary. Immigration officers assess whether you meet all conditions for legal entry
  • Strict security screening applied: The policy includes top-level security checks—as stated by Malaysia’s Prime Minister—so all entrants undergo screening. Those with suspicious reasons or travel records may be denied entry regardless of nationality
  • Administrative requirements: Visa‑free entrants must still satisfy standard arrival requirements:
    • A confirmed return or onward ticket
    • Sufficient funds for the stay
    • Submission of the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) within 3 days before arrival .

Lessons for Travelers

  • Even with visa exemption, carry all required documents (return ticket, proof of funds, MDAC receipt, hotel booking, clear visit purpose)
  • Be ready to explain your itinerary if asked
  • Understand that personal profiling—especially of solo male travellers from high-risk origins—can lead to entry refusal even under visa‑free policy

The 10 Indian travellers were denied entry not due to visa rules, but because they didn’t clear immigration screening standards—particularly around their travel reasons and documentation—despite the visa-free facility in place

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
