Fake PMO ID, Gun Found: A 24-year-old man allegedly carrying a forged PMO card was detained along with his companion, described as his bodyguard, ahead of PM Modi’s visit.

Mumbai/September 8, 2026: Two men were detained at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex after security personnel allegedly found a forged Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) identity card on one of them and a firearm in the possession of his companion.
The incident occurred at a venue associated with the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026, being held in Mumbai from September 8 to 11. The event is the seventh edition of the annual fintech gathering and has drawn senior government officials, financial-sector leaders and technology companies.
According to reports, the man carrying the alleged fake PMO identity card was identified as 24-year-old Rohan Parekh. Security personnel reportedly detected the discrepancy during identity verification and detained him for questioning.
Parekh was allegedly accompanied by another man described as his bodyguard. A firearm was reportedly recovered from the companion during the security check.

Both men were taken into custody, and the Mumbai Crime Branch is investigating how they obtained access to the high-security venue, why Parekh was allegedly carrying a forged PMO identity card and whether the firearm was legally licensed.
The incident has raised serious security concerns because the venue was being used for an event linked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit. The combination of an alleged forged government identity and a weapon at a venue prepared for a prime ministerial programme has prompted investigators to examine whether the men had any access to restricted areas.
Officials have not so far disclosed a possible motive or indicated whether the two men were part of any larger conspiracy. It is also unclear from the information publicly available whether they passed through multiple security layers before being stopped or were intercepted at an initial checkpoint.
The Crime Branch is expected to examine the alleged identity card, the firearm and the circumstances in which the two men entered the venue. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
