Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a historic visit to Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar today to partake in the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu Kashmir’ initiative, marking his first public address in the region since the abrogation of Article 370.

During this momentous visit, PM Modi inaugurated and dedicated multiple developmental projects worth Rs. 6,400 crore, furthering the Union Territory’s journey towards progress and prosperity.

PM Modi Inaugurated Multiple Projects in Kashmir

Among the notable projects inaugurated by PM Modi was the ‘Holistic Agriculture Development Programme’ valued at Rs. 5000 crore, aimed at bolstering Jammu and Kashmir’s agricultural economy and empowering farmers across the region.

PM Modi also unveiled projects worth over Rs. 1400 crore under the Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD schemes, significantly boosting tourism infrastructure. These initiatives include commencing the Integrated Development of Hazratbal Shrine project in Srinagar, highlighting the government’s commitment to promoting religious and cultural tourism in the region.

PM Modi Addressed New Recruits from Kashmir

During his visit, PM Modi distributed appointment letters to approximately 1000 new government recruits in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the government’s dedication to enhancing employment opportunities and fostering economic growth in the region. He also engaged with beneficiaries of various government schemes, including women achievers, prosperous farmers, entrepreneurs, and others, reaffirming the government’s commitment to inclusive development.

In a groundbreaking move to involve citizens in shaping India’s tourism landscape, PM Modi introduced the nation’s first-ever initiative, ‘Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice 2024’. This initiative solicits public feedback on preferred tourist attractions and perceptions across five tourism categories, fostering citizen participation in the country’s tourism development efforts.

PM Modi’s Address to Kashmiris

Furthermore, PM Modi kickstarted the ‘Chalo India Global Diaspora Campaign’, urging the Indian diaspora to serve as ambassadors for ‘Incredible India’ and promote tourism to the country, strengthening cultural ties and boosting tourism revenues.

Addressing a public gathering in Srinagar, PM Modi expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare and development of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that the government’s relentless efforts aimed to win the people’s hearts and assured them of continued regional development initiatives.

“I have always treated the people of J&K as my family. The people of my family stay in my heart, and ‘Main hoon Modi ka Pariwar’ is in the hearts of Kashmiris,” PM Modi said, underscoring his deep-rooted connection with the region. He further pledged to ensure that development works in Jammu and Kashmir progress unhindered, extending heartfelt wishes to the nation for the upcoming Ramazan festivities.

In conclusion, PM Modi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir symbolizes a significant milestone in the region’s developmental journey, reaffirming the government’s unwavering commitment to inclusive growth and prosperity for all its citizens.
