A recently circulated video allegedly showing an Anganwadi worker kicking a young girl in the chest has sparked massive outrage across social media.
In Panvel’s Nandgaon, a woman working under the Anganwadi scheme, which aims to support the development of underprivileged children and women, was seen kicking a young girl in a fit of rage. After the child fell helplessly onto the concrete stairs, another woman dressed in a green saree walked out, appearing completely unsurprised and even laughing as she picked up the girl.
This is just one video that has surfaced, raising serious questions about what might really be happening inside such centres when no cameras are around.
Organisations like Anganwadi are meant to promote early childhood education, nutrition, and welfare. Instead of providing a safe haven for vulnerable children, the worker was allegedly seen exploiting her position of responsibility.
Anganwadi workers are often appointed as part of the scheme to promote employment while supporting child welfare. Incidents like these make one thing painfully clear—the need for thorough background checks, proper screening, and stricter monitoring before appointing individuals to work with children.
The woman was clearly venting her frustration on a little girl. Under no circumstances can such behaviour be justified.
Netizens have been tagging the authorities and the Maharashtra Police, demanding strict action against those responsible and justice for the child. X( formerly Twitter), is filling with people showing their disgust over the video.

The incident has triggered widespread anger online, with many questioning the safety of children entrusted to government-run childcare centres. The authorities responsible for over-seeing these organizations must be more careful over the supervision, incidents like this can prevent people from accessing better living standards and help when they need it.
So far, no updates from Maharashtra police has been confirmed but we might expect some action be taken soon.
