September 15, 2026: A hit-and-run on Gurugram’s Golf Course Road has taken a more serious turn, with police detaining the alleged driver in Rajasthan and adding an attempt-to-murder charge after reviewing CCTV footage of the crash.

Kalyan Bainsla, a gym owner from Palwal and former kabaddi player, was detained in Dausa on Tuesday and is being brought to Gurugram for questioning, police said.

Gurugram Police added Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) to the FIR after examining the CCTV footage. The provision carries a maximum punishment of 10 years. The case was initially registered for rash driving and causing injury.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning when a white sedan allegedly swerved towards Sia, who was riding her Aprilia RS 457 on Golf Course Road.

The collision threw her off the motorcycle, which skidded across the road and sent sparks flying. The sedan continued without stopping.

Sia was wearing a helmet and suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Before Bainsla was detained, Sia told mediapersons the incident was a clear hit-and-run and attempt to murder.

Her father, Rohshan Chauhan, said the family would continue pursuing the case until the accused was punished.

Bainsla, speaking to the media from an undisclosed location before his detention, said he did not know whether the rider was a man or a woman. He also claimed that only one side of the incident had been presented publicly and questioned why footage involving one of Sia’s male companions had not been released.

“I felt very sorry for that girl,” he said.

Sia rejected the explanation, questioning why he had failed to stop if he was genuinely concerned about her.

“If you really felt sorry for me, then why didn’t you stop? It was your responsibility. If you hit me, you should have stopped and checked whether I was injured,” she said.

She said the consequences could have been far more serious.

“I could have suffered much more serious injuries. My bones could have been broken. I could have died on the spot,” she said.

Sia also rejected what she described as Bainsla’s attempt to express sympathy after the incident.

“This display of sympathy does not suit him,” she said, pointing to the CCTV footage showing the car leaving the scene.

“They did not stop even for a second to check whether the person they had hit was alive or dead,” she said.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
