Who benefits from this hike?
The 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) in Assam benefits two main groups:
- First, serving state government employees. These are people currently working in various government departments—such as education, health, police, administration, and public services. The DA is an additional part of their salary that helps adjust for inflation, so this hike means their monthly take-home pay will increase slightly.
- Second, state government pensioners. These are retired employees who receive a monthly pension from the government. They receive Dearness Relief (DR), which works in the same way as DA but for pensions. This increase means their pension payouts will also rise.
