Alia Bhatt’s Alpha, the latest chapter in the YRF Spy Universe, has begun its box office journey with a worldwide opening of Rs 15.80 crore. According to early estimates from Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 9 crore net in India on Day 1 across 7,534 shows, while overseas markets contributed approximately Rs 5 crore, taking the global total to Rs 15.80 crore.

On Day 2, Alpha has earned an estimated Rs 21 lakh net in India by 11 AM, with collections expected to pick up as the day progresses.

Alpha Box Office Collection Day 1

Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences, Alpha managed to outperform Alia Bhatt’s previous theatrical release, Jigra. The film recorded an overall 20.40% Hindi occupancy on its opening day, with occupancy levels improving through the day:

  • Morning Shows: 9.92%
  • Afternoon Shows: 17.85%
  • Evening Shows: 19.69%
  • Night Shows: 34.15%

The stronger night occupancy indicates improved audience footfall during evening screenings.

Alpha Beats Jigra’s Opening Day Collection

Alpha has comfortably surpassed the opening-day performance of Alia Bhatt’s 2024 action drama Jigra. Directed by Vasan Bala, Jigra earned Rs 4.55 crore net on its first day before finishing its theatrical run at around Rs 56.93 crore worldwide, against a reported budget of over Rs 80 crore.

With a Rs 9 crore India net opening, Alpha has nearly doubled Jigra’s Day 1 collection.

Competition at the Box Office

The spy thriller is facing competition from two major theatrical releases—Akshay Kumar’s Welcome To The Jungle and Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapis Aaunga—both of which are also attracting audiences in cinemas. The coming weekend will be crucial in determining whether Alpha can build momentum through positive word of mouth.

Alpha Becomes the Lowest Opener in the YRF Spy Universe

While Alpha has posted a decent opening by general standards, it has registered the lowest opening-day collection among all films in the YRF Spy Universe. Previous entries, including Pathaan, War, War 2, and the Tiger franchise, opened to significantly higher numbers, aided by strong franchise popularity and holiday release windows.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
