Top contenders PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen moved into the next round of the women’s and men’s singles at the Syed Modi International Super 300 badminton tournament with easy wins on Wednesday.

Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medal winner, beat up-and-coming player Anmol Kharb with scores of 21-17, 21-15, while Lakshya, who won a bronze medal at the 2021 world championships, defeated Malaysian qualifier Sholeh Aidil 21-12, 21-12 in a separate game.

Sindhu, making a comeback to the tournament after a two-year break, will compete against fellow Indian Ira Sharma, who defeated Deepshikha Singh 21-13, 21-19 in her first match.

“I’m happy to be back here after two years. I couldn’t play last year because of injury, but it feels great to be playing on home soil again,” Sindhu said after her win.

Next, Lakshya will compete against either Ravi or Daniil Dubovenko from Israel.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
