Sarada is deeply committed to social justice and development
Sarada Muraleedharan, a senior IAS officer from the 1990 batch of the Kerala cadre, is slated to become the 49th Chief Secretary of Kerala. Her husband, V Venu, who is also a 1990-batch IAS officer, retired on August 31, and her appointment has been approved by the state cabinet.
Muraleedharan, who is currently in the role of Additional Chief Secretary (Planning), will assume her new position following the guidance of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Sarada has been the Director General at NIFT
Sarada Muraleedharan has a lot of experience for the job, having worked in important positions in different departments, such as leading the Kudumbashree Mission and being the Director General at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).
She has held important roles in both the Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry of Panchayati Raj at the national level throughout her varied career.
The announcement of her new position has generated a lot of attention on social media, especially due to a touching picture of the duo posted by journalist Rajesh Abraham on X (previously known as Twitter). The positive online response was received by the image and related commentary, which highlight the family’s lineage.
