EAM hints at a potential visit from President Zelensky
During a press briefing in Kyiv, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar mentioned his desire for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to come to India for a visit. Jaishankar made remarks following Narendra Modi’s one-on-one discussions with the Ukrainian leader.
Jaishankar stated that PM Modi’s trip to Ukraine is significant and they are anticipating President Zelenskyy’s visit to India in return.
While visiting, Modi and Zelensky agreed to work together to support the principles of international law.

Modi emphasized the importance of finding a creative solution that would be widely accepted by all parties in order to bring an end to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Jaishankar stated that the conflict was the main topic of discussion between New Delhi and Kyiv.
The joint statement released after the Modi-Zelensky meeting mentioned that the Leaders talked about increasing cooperation in trade and commerce, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, defense, education, science & technology, and culture. They also discussed forming a stronger partnership in digital public infrastructure, industry, manufacturing, green energy, etc., with more involvement from businesses and industries in both countries.
In particular, the two countries agreed to look at joint collaborations and partners on defence, including for manufacturing in India. India also thanked the Ukrainian government for its assistance in evacuating Indian students in the country after the war broke out in 2022.
