One clear indicator of the crisis Canadians are facing is 25% of parents reducing their food consumption so their children can eat enough. Canadians are experiencing a major crisis regarding housing, employment, and rising prices.
A non-profit organization’s report shows that a quarter of Canadian parents reduce their food intake to ensure their children are well-nourished, highlighting the financial strain on households.
The Salvation Army’s report, which came out on November 21, also indicates that more than 90% of participants stated they had cut back on grocery expenses in order to allocate funds to other financial goals.
The announcement coincides with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expected to introduce a temporary break on Goods and Services Tax (GST) for certain essential items to address affordability concerns in Canada.
