Rajasthan government to examine degrees of 3 lakh government employees amid fake degree controversy

Following the unearthing of a bogus degrees racket, the Rajasthan government has decided to look into the hiring practices of three lakh state officials hired over the last five years. The degrees of three lakh government employees will be examined.

The Bhajan Lal Sharma-led administration made the decision after reports of people gaining jobs using fraudulent documents surfaced. The alleged fraudulent operations have been detected across a wide spectrum of exams, including PTI and Sub-inspector exams.

It has also been stated that hundreds of positions have been designated for tribals, with lower cut-offs, employing dummy candidates.

“Each department should form an internal committee to investigate whether the person who took the exam and the person employed as a public servant are the same individuals for employees recruited in the past five years,” said the government’s directive.

43,000 degrees issued by private university under scanner

The racket of fraudulent degrees was revealed after the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board, which administers the PTI recruitment examination, looked into the certificates of successful candidates. It was discovered that the degrees of over 80 shortlisted candidates were forgeries.

Om Parkash Jogender Singh (OPJS) University in Churu conferred 60 certificates. The Rajasthan police special operations unit recently raided the university and discovered that it was reportedly giving bogus and backdated degrees. The university personnel consisted of only seven people.

According to an investigation, the university has distributed 43,000 bogus degrees to date. A considerable number of students from Jammu and Kashmir and southern states have gotten such forged degrees.

Joginder Singh Dalal, the university’s founder and owner, former chairman Sarita Karwasra, and former registrar Jitendra Yadav were detained on July 5 for allegedly being involved in the scheme.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
