PM Modi vows tough measures against crimes on women

In a bold statement addressing the growing worries about violence against women, Prime Minister Narendra Modi guaranteed on Sunday that individuals involved in these crimes will face consequences.

During the Lakhpati Didi event in Jalgaon, Maharashtra, PM Modi spoke about the recent uproar across the country regarding incidents like the rape and murder of the Kolkata doctor, the Badlapur school sex abuse case, and the Assam gangrape.

‘Rigorous laws and new systems for justice implemented’

“We are strengthening and making stricter laws for criminals who commit sins against women,” the Prime Minister said. PM Modi emphasized the government’s initiatives to strengthen legal frameworks and enforcement mechanisms by amending existing laws and implementing new systems for easier access to justice for victims.

“Previously, there were reports of FIRs not being lodged. He mentioned, “We introduced the BNS [Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita] and implemented numerous changes.” If a woman doesn’t wish to visit the police station, she has the option to register an e-FIR. An e-FIR cannot be altered or tampered with by anyone.”

Regarding crimes against women after marriage, PM Modi mentioned that amendments have been made to the BNS by his government to tackle these issues. He confirmed that the federal government strongly supports state governments in addressing crimes against women.

“Today, I challenge you – keep the seven decades of previous governments on one side and put 10 years of the Modi government on the other scale… The amount of work that the Modi government has done for the sisters and daughters of the country, no government has done after Independence,” he said.

“Today, I urge you to compare the seven decades of past governments with the 10 years of the Modi government on opposite sides. He mentioned that no government since Independence has accomplished as much work for the women of the country as the Modi government has,” he said.
