Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of Delhi’s Transport Department, Prashant Goel, has refuted allegation levelled by AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal about initation of probe against Chief Minister Atishi regarding free bus travel scheme for women in Delhi.
Goyal has said that Kejriwal’s allegations, which included the possibility of Atishi’s arrest, are “completely misleading and incorrect.”
In his letter dated December 26, 2024, Goyal clarified that no investigation has been initiated by the Transport Department, nor has any communication been received from the Vigilance Department about such a probe.
“No such investigation has been initiated, nor is any pending by the Transport Department. Additionally, no communication has been received from the Vigilance Department. Hence, such claims are completely baseless,” Goyal emphasized.
The letter was not only sent to Chief Minister Atishi but also forwarded to the Chief Secretary and the Vigilance Department to ensure transparency.
Kejriwal recently claimed on social media and television that an investigation was underway against Atishi regarding the Women’s Free Bus Travel Scheme. However, Goyal dismissed these assertions, calling them a “political stunt and drama.”
As of now, Chief Minister Atishi and her government have not issued a statement regarding the letter. The clarification from Prashant Goyal, however, has cast doubt on the veracity of Kejriwal’s allegations, triggering a political debate in Delhi. Further developments and reactions are anticipated in the coming days.
