Mohan Charan Majhi, a senior BJP tribal leader and four-time MLA, took oath as Odisha’s Chief Minister on Wednesday at an event attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Notably, Manoj Majhi is the BJP’s first chief minister in the state.

The massive oath-taking event took place around 5 p.m. at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar.

Naveen Patnaik, who ruled Odisha for as many as 24 years, attended the event after Majhi met him earlier in the day and invited him to the swearing-in ceremony.

Several chief ministers from BJP-ruled states, including as Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand, were also present.

Speaking to reporters earlier, Manji stated that work will begin within 100 days of the formation of the new administration to fulfill the promises made in the BJP’s manifesto.

The BJP swept to victory in the recently concluded Assembly elections, ending the 24-year dominance of the Patnaik-led Biju Nanata Dal (BJD) by winning 78 of 147 seats. The BJD won 51 seats, Congress won 14, the CPI(M) won one, and independents won three.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
