A 28-year-old private bank manager has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut for allegedly murdering a six-year-old boy in an attempt to marry the child’s mother, police said.
The accused, identified as Arpit Parashar from Muzaffarnagar, was arrested on June 17 following an investigation into the disappearance and death of six-year-old Angadveer.
According to police, Angadveer lived with his family in Meerut, while his father, Gursevak, works as a truck driver in Dubai. The child went missing on Tuesday morning while playing outside his home in Ramraj village.
When Angadveer did not return home for several hours, his family became concerned. His grandmother, Balvinder Kaur, later filed a kidnapping complaint at the Hasuma police station and named Parashar as a suspect.
During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage from the area. The footage reportedly showed Angadveer playing outside when a person inside a white car called him over. The child then willingly got into the vehicle, leading investigators to believe he knew the occupant.
The CCTV evidence shifted the investigation toward people known to the family. Police subsequently detained Parashar for questioning.
During interrogation, Parashar initially allegedly tried to mislead investigators by claiming he had disposed of the boy’s body in a canal. However, police said he later confessed to taking the child from outside his home and killing him with a sharp weapon.
The body of Angadveer was later recovered from a field nearly 10 kilometres away from his house.

Police said the accused allegedly committed the crime because he wanted to marry the child’s mother. The child’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is ongoing.
