KNA-B accused sections of the media of relying on assumptions and anonymous claims, warning that such reporting could heighten tensions in an already sensitive region.

May 8, 2026 — The Kuki National Army-B (KNA-B) has rejected any connection to the recent arrest of an individual in Zoveng, Churachandpur, and condemned what it called a “misleading and unverified” media report attempting to link the organisation to the case.
In a clarification issued from its General Headquarters, the group rejected a report published by Northeast Live, saying it had no credible basis to associate the arrested individual with KNA-B.
“Despite certain parties being fully aware of the actual background and affiliation of the arrested individual, deliberate attempts continue to be made to associate the matter with KNA-B without any credible or verifiable evidence,” the statement said.

The outfit stressed that speculative claims based on assumptions or anonymous inputs should not be treated as proof of organisational involvement, warning that such narratives were damaging its image and creating unnecessary tension in the region.
“KNA-B is not engaged in activities within Indian territory and remains committed to the democratic movement in Myanmar,” it reiterated.
The organisation urged media houses and authorities to ensure factual accuracy and avoid reports that could inflame an already sensitive situation in Manipur’s hill districts.

This clarification comes a day after KNA-B also rejected allegations linking it to arson attacks on Tangkhul Naga villages in Kamjong district, calling those claims “false and malicious.”
In that earlier statement, the group denied involvement in the reported burning of houses in Namlee, Choro, and Wanglee villages, insisting it does not operate within Indian territory.
“Such reckless reporting only fuels paranoia, consternation, and further instability in an already fragile region,” it said, reiterating its focus on Myanmar and urging restraint in reporting and public commentary.
The outfit also appealed to communities in Manipur’s hill districts to avoid circulating unverified information and to rely on confirmed facts amid rising tensions in the region.
