On Wednesday, Kishor Kanyal, the district collector of Shajapur who caused a stir when he questioned a driver’s “aukat” (status) in the midst of the truckers’ protest, was fired. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav made the decision, declaring that his administration would not accept such language.
Further, the Madhya Pradesh government issued an order to shift Kanyal to the post of state deputy secretary.
In light of the event, Riju Bafna was appointed Shajapur’s new collector.
Kanyal lost his temper on Tuesday during a meeting with representatives of a drivers’ union. He later apologized if his remarks had offended anyone.
Kanyal can be seen asking drivers and others to not take the law into their hands in a video of the incident that went viral online.
When a representative of the divers asked him to talk nicely, a furious Kanyal said, “Kya karoge tum, kya aukat hai tumhari?”
The man replied saying they are fighting this battle for the very reason that they don’t have any “aukat” (social standing).
