On Sunday, February 23, Virat Kohli made history by becoming India’s most successful fielder in ODIs.

The 36-year-old Delhi cricketer, who debuted in ODIs against Sri Lanka in Dambulla on August 18, 2008, has now recorded 157 catches in his 299 ODIs played to date.

Kohli achieved his 157th catch during the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 match between India and Pakistan at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Kohli surpassed the record of 156 catches set by former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin.

The record for the highest number of catches in ODI cricket is held by former Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene. Throughout his career, Jayawardene participated in 448 matches and secured 218 catches. Ricky Ponting comes next with 160 catches in 375 ODIs.

Kohli, the all-time top run scorer in ICC white-ball events, will get the opportunity to shatter several batting records on Sunday.

Should the previous India captain achieve a minimum of 15 runs, he will become the quickest player to reach 14,000 runs in ODIs. So far, only two batters have succeeded in scoring over 14,000 runs in ODI cricket.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
