Hansi (Haryana), June 11, 2026 — A 25-year-old gym owner was shot dead in a brazen attack by two motorcycle-borne assailants while conducting an early morning fitness session in Haryana’s Hansi town on Thursday, police said.

The victim, identified as Kapil, was leading a group of trainees outside his fitness centre near Fawwara Chowk when the shooting occurred at around 5:30 a.m. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras, footage of which has since circulated widely on social media, drawing shock and outrage from local residents.

According to preliminary reports, Kapil was supervising a workout session involving several students, including a woman. The group was reportedly performing step-up exercises on a flight of stairs when a motorcycle carrying two men arrived at the spot.

The CCTV footage shows one of the assailants, allegedly wearing a white cap, stepping off the motorcycle and opening fire at close range. Kapil was struck by multiple bullets and collapsed on the spot. Panic ensued as trainees scrambled for safety, while screams can be heard in the background of the viral video.

Witnesses said the attackers fled immediately after the shooting, leaving the victim critically injured. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene before medical assistance could arrive.

Kapil, a native of Jind district, had built a reputation as a fitness trainer and entrepreneur in Hansi. He had been operating his gym in the town for nearly three years and had recently shifted to a larger premises as part of plans to expand his business. Family members and acquaintances said he had also recently married and was looking forward to growing both his personal and professional life.

The killing has stunned residents of Hansi, a historic town in Haryana’s Hisar district, where such public acts of violence are relatively uncommon. Locals described Kapil as a hardworking young businessman and expressed concern over the bold nature of the attack, which took place in the presence of students and passersby.

Police teams rushed to the scene after receiving information about the shooting and have launched a detailed investigation. Senior officials said multiple teams have been constituted to analyse CCTV footage, gather forensic evidence, and trace the suspects.

While the motive behind the murder remains unclear, investigators are examining several possible angles, including personal enmity, business disputes, financial conflicts, and other criminal links. Authorities have not ruled out any possibility at this stage.

No arrests had been reported as of Thursday evening. Police said efforts are underway to identify the two assailants and determine whether they received assistance from others before or after the attack.

The incident has reignited concerns over public safety and gun violence in the region. Residents and business owners have called for swift action against the perpetrators and stronger security measures to prevent similar crimes.

Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
