On Thursday, the 64th City Civil and Sessions Court in Bengaluru denied the bail request of actor Ranya Rao, who was apprehended related to a gold smuggling case.
The 33-year-old actress was detained on March 3 for carrying 14.5 kg of gold at the airport while coming back from Dubai. A Karnataka investigative committee examining protocol breaches and negligence is expected to present its findings today regarding the case.
This is the third occasion that Rao’s request for bail has been denied. On March 14, a Special Court for Economic Offences denied her bail application. According to reports, her legal team is now getting ready to file for bail in the Karnataka High Court.
