A school inspection in Latur has triggered a fresh confrontation between the CJP and Maharashtra’s education authorities, with Abhijeet Dipke alleging that outsiders were brought in as “rented students” and facilities were hurriedly spruced up before his arrival.

August 21, 2026: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has demanded the resignation of Maharashtra Education Minister Dada Bhuse after alleging serious lapses at a government school in Latur district, accusing the state’s education machinery of failing students and attempting to conceal poor conditions during an inspection.
Dipke made the demand after visiting a Zilla Parishad school in Ausa on Thursday as part of the CJP’s “School Theek Karo” campaign. He alleged that outsiders had been brought in as “rented students” to fill classrooms, with some of the children allegedly absent from the school’s official rolls. He also claimed that empty liquor bottles were found on the campus and accused authorities of hurriedly cleaning toilets and arranging mid-day meal plates after learning about his visit.
Videos posted by Dipke on X show him questioning children about their enrolment and confronting a teacher over the school’s facilities and arrangements. He later accused the authorities of allowing students to study in conditions “worse than animals”.
“Even a minister’s dog gets better facilities than the students,” Dipke said, questioning how leaking roofs and shortages of benches could remain unresolved after years of government intervention.
The school administration, however, has rejected Dipke’s allegations.
Principal Balaji Gawali said the building houses both Marathi- and Urdu-medium schools and maintained that the children present during the inspection were genuine students. He also denied that meal plates had been procured at the last minute, saying the pupils were using plates already issued to the school.
Gawali maintained that Dipke had misunderstood routine arrangements at the institution and interpreted them as preparations made specifically for his inspection.
Dipke has also demanded action against block education officers responsible for schools he claims are being poorly maintained. He said the officials had cited official tours to explain their absence during inspections and called for their suspension within eight days.

The CJP’s Latur campaign will now expand into a broader social audit of government and municipal schools across the district. The organisation plans to assess schools using a 10-point checklist covering infrastructure, administration, government schemes, safety, transport, mid-day meals, accessibility, hygiene and overall functioning.
The confrontation in Ausa is the latest in a series of challenges mounted by the CJP against government education authorities. Through its “School Theek Karo” campaign, the organisation has been conducting unannounced inspections and publishing footage online, seeking to turn deficiencies in public schools into a political accountability issue.
The Maharashtra education department and school authorities have disputed the CJP’s interpretation of the Ausa visit, but the episode is likely to intensify scrutiny of school infrastructure and administrative oversight across Latur district.
