The restrictions come a day after authorities ordered all shops and commercial establishments in Connaught Place to close by 6 pm on Thursday, highlighting the unprecedented security arrangements in the heart of the national capital.

New Delhi, July 24, 2026: Security restrictions remained in force across central Delhi on Friday, July 24, with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) closing entry and exit gates at 17 metro stations from 7:30 AM onwards in view of the ongoing protests near Jantar Mantar.

The precautionary measures come as authorities continue to maintain heightened security across the national capital following demonstrations linked to the nationwide agitation over alleged examination paper leaks. While commuters can continue travelling on the Metro network, they will not be allowed to enter or exit at the affected stations until further orders.

The restrictions follow an unprecedented security clampdown on Thursday evening, when all shops and commercial establishments in Connaught Place were directed to shut by 6 pm as police tightened security across New Delhi. The early closure of one of the capital’s busiest commercial hubs disrupted business activity and reflected the administration’s heightened concerns over possible protests spreading beyond Jantar Mantar.

The DMRC clarified that interchange facilities will remain operational at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat, allowing passengers to switch metro lines without exiting the stations.

The closure is expected to affect thousands of office-goers, students, shoppers, and tourists travelling through the heart of the capital. Delhi Police have deployed additional personnel around Jantar Mantar, Parliament Street, Connaught Place, and other sensitive locations, with barricades and traffic diversions in place to regulate movement.

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
