New Delhi, October 4, 2026 — Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders have alleged that the Union government is preparing to arrest some of its senior figures ahead of the outfit’s planned October 10 mobilisation in Delhi, while the Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi unit has called an emergency organisational meeting over what it described as “something big” being planned by the Centre.
Neither claim has been confirmed by the government or Delhi Police.
CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said in a social-media post that the government was planning to arrest him, founder Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka, Ratna Singh and other party leaders.
“If the government thinks that such dictatorial actions will work, then they are mistaken,” Das said, adding that “the young generation has awakened.”
Das said the CJP leadership was prepared to face arrest and urged supporters to continue the protests even if its prominent leaders were detained. He also appealed for what he described as the “biggest mobilisation” beginning October 10.
The CJP has not disclosed any official notice or other evidence indicating that arrests are imminent. However, the warning comes amid growing legal and police action against the group.
Mumbai Police have registered an FIR against Dipke, Das, Ranka and several other CJP leaders, along with more than 400 unidentified supporters, over the outfit’s October 2 protest at Shivaji Park against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Police said the case relates to alleged unlawful assembly and disobedience of lawful orders. No arrests had been made in that case at the time of the latest police statement.
Separately, AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj announced an emergency organisational meeting, saying “something big is being planned by Central Govt.”

Plan it meticulously so that the show must go on. Even we have called an emergency meeting tomorrow.
The show must go on.

Bharadwaj asked district presidents, Vidhan Sabha presidents and ward observers to attend a meeting at the party office at noon, followed by a meeting of MLAs and councillors at 3 pm. He did not disclose what information had prompted the meetings or what action the party expected from the Centre.
The developments come amid escalating protests against the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
The CJP, founded by political communications strategist Abhijeet Dipke, has emerged as one of the more prominent youth-led groups in the protests. It has announced a major mobilisation at Jantar Mantar on October 10 and has demanded Kumar’s resignation. Dipke has said the campaign will continue if authorities attempt to stop it.
The group had earlier led protests over alleged irregularities in entrance examinations. Those demonstrations brought it wider attention and preceded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in July, after which the CJP claimed that assurances had been given on withdrawing cases against protesters, releasing detainees and considering compensation and examination reforms.
The organisation has since accused the Centre and some state governments of failing to honour those assurances.
Tensions intensified again on September 28 when Assam Police detained CJP co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka and other volunteers ahead of a meeting in Guwahati. The CJP and police gave different figures for the number detained, and those picked up were subsequently released.
The latest confrontation comes after the CJP’s October 2 protest in Mumbai, where thousands gathered at Shivaji Park demanding Kumar’s resignation. Police had denied permission for the demonstration and subsequently registered an FIR against the organisers and hundreds of unidentified participants.
The CJP has also been involved in protests in Delhi against the Election Commission. On October 2, AAP leaders and CJP activists were among those detained as police prevented demonstrators from reaching Jantar Mantar.
With the CJP preparing for its October 10 mobilisation and AAP activating its organisational machinery, both developments point to another potentially tense week for authorities in the capital.
For now, however, the alleged arrests of CJP leaders and the claim that the Centre is planning unspecified action remain unverified. No government or police statement has confirmed that arrests or any other major operation are imminent.
