At least 12 migrants killed, says French Minister Gerald Darmanin
French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin stated that a minimum of 12 migrants were killed when their boat overturned during their journey across the Channel towards Britain, with efforts being made to locate the remaining two individuals.
To emphasize the seriousness, Darmanin mentioned he would visit the location by Boulogne-sur-Mer later in the day.
UK and France prioritise addressing illegal immigration
Both the British and French governments have made addressing illegal immigration a top concern.
According to data from the UK government, over the past week, more than 2,000 individuals have entered Britain by means of small boats.

Macron, Starmer vow towards dismantling smuggling routes
French President Macron and British Prime Minister Starmer vowed to collaborate more closely in dismantling migrant smuggling pathways last week.
The channel is among the most heavily trafficked shipping routes globally, with powerful currents that pose a danger to small boat crossings.
In August, two individuals were discovered deceased following a boat transporting migrants attempting to cross the Channel encountered problems.
