Veteran Bollywood actor Alok Nath, once widely recognised as Hindi cinema’s iconic “Sanskari Babuji,” has largely stayed away from films and public appearances since facing MeToo allegations in 2018. According to actor and longtime friend Rajesh Puri, the controversy had a life-changing impact on the veteran actor, leading him to withdraw from the entertainment industry and adopt a quieter lifestyle.
Rajesh Puri Says MeToo Allegations Changed Alok Nath’s Life
In a recent interview, Rajesh Puri revealed that the allegations deeply affected Alok Nath, who has since chosen to remain out of the public eye. He said the actor now spends most of his time indoors and rarely attends industry events or social gatherings.
Puri noted that the allegations came as a surprise to many because Alok Nath had spent decades portraying the image of Bollywood’s ideal father figure, earning the nickname “Sanskari Babuji.”
Rajesh Puri Reveals Alcohol Once Changed Alok Nath’s Behaviour
While defending his longtime friend, Rajesh Puri acknowledged that Alok Nath may have made mistakes in the past. However, he described the veteran actor as a kind-hearted person who has undergone significant personal change over the years.
Puri revealed that Alok Nath has completely quit drinking alcohol, adding that alcohol had a major influence on his behaviour in the past. According to him, the actor was naturally affectionate and warm but often became aggressive and unpredictable after consuming alcohol.
Recalling their years of working together on outdoor film shoots, Rajesh said he never personally witnessed Alok behaving inappropriately. However, he admitted that alcohol would sometimes make the actor offensive and difficult to manage.
Alok Nath Has Turned Towards Spirituality and Stays Away From Acting
Rajesh Puri also shared that Alok Nath now leads a quiet and isolated life. Despite repeated invitations to visit his home or farmhouse, the veteran actor has consistently declined, preferring to keep his distance from social interactions.
Although the two remain in touch through phone conversations, Rajesh believes Alok Nath’s acting talent is going to waste because he no longer accepts film or television projects. He feels the actor continues to carry the emotional burden of the events that unfolded after the allegations.

Puri further revealed that Alok Nath has embraced spirituality and follows the same spiritual guru as him. While he seeks peace through spiritual teachings, the actor reportedly avoids attending public satsangs or gatherings, choosing instead to live a private life away from media attention.
The MeToo allegations against Alok Nath marked a major turning point in his career. Once one of Bollywood’s most recognisable character actors, he now lives away from the limelight, focusing on spirituality and maintaining a low-profile existence.
