🔹 Meitei Heritage Society Calls Out Kuki Militants for Opposing Peace Efforts

📌 The Meitei Heritage Society has revealed that Chin-Kuki militants are deeply unsettled by Arambai Tengol’s voluntary disarmament. Instead of embracing peace, they have launched a desperate PR campaign to justify their separatist agenda.

The Meitei Heritage Society, an umbrella organization of Meitei civil groups, has stated that the voluntary handover of arms by Arambai Tengol, following an assurance from Governor of Manipur Ajay Bhalla that no separatist demand—including Separate Administration—would be entertained, has deeply unsettled Chin-Kuki militants.

Rather than welcoming this move as a step toward peace, Chin-Kuki groups have launched a frantic PR campaign, exposing their unease over the development, the Meitei Heritage Society said in a late-night statement.

In the statement, the Meitei Heritage Society remarked:

“The frenzied propaganda spread through their mouthpieces exposes how unsettled they are. Now, they are scrambling to manufacture new excuses to incite fresh violence. After former CM Biren’s resignation and their PR tactics failed, this was the last straw they clung to in justifying their separatist agenda.”

The Meitei body, which has been at the forefront of shaping the narrative for its community, further stated:

“Instead of fear-mongering and wasting time on such bluffs, it would be wiser to urge their militants and miscreants to surrender their arms before the law takes its course. For far too long, the Chin-Kuki elites have misled their own youth, selling them the illusion of a Separate Administration.”

Earlier, Arambai Tengol outlined the key agreements reached with the government before disarmament:

1️⃣ No Separate Administration – The Governor assured that no such demand would be considered, prompting AT’s decision to disarm.2️⃣ Commitment to Peace and Development – AT pledged to contribute to regional stability.
3️⃣ Protection of Meitei Lives and Property – Central forces and police will ensure security in peripheral areas.
4️⃣ Retaliation Clause – If, after disarmament, Kuki militants attack Meiteis and cause civilian casualties, the government will not interfere if AT takes necessary retaliatory action.
5️⃣ General Amnesty – All Village Volunteers, including AT members, will receive amnesty.
6️⃣ Uniformed Free Movement – AT members will be allowed unrestricted movement in uniform.
7️⃣ Implementation of NRC, FRM, and Border Fencing – The government will provide regular updates to AT on these measures.
8️⃣ Review of the 1960 MLR Act – The Act, which is seen as anti-Meitei, will be reconsidered.
9️⃣ Eradication of Poppy Cultivation – The government has committed to eliminating poppy farming to protect youth from the drug menace.

With these agreements in place, Arambai Tengol has taken a decisive step toward peace and stability. However, the aggressive reaction from Chin-Kuki militants raises serious questions—are they truly committed to peace, or is their agenda solely aimed at engineering fresh violence?

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
