According to the state government’s most recent update, the death toll in Kerala’s Wayanad landslides rose to 358 on Saturday as rescuers raced against time and used deep search radars to look for survivors trapped under debris and in fallen houses.

The Kerala government has asked the Centre to send deep search radars to help in the rescue operations. On Saturday, one Xaver radar from Northern Command and four Reeco radars from Tiranga Mountain Rescue Organisation, Delhi, were carried to Wayanad aboard an Air Force aircraft.

Over 200 people remain missing
Over 200 people remain missing as private search and rescue firms and volunteers join rescue operations conducted by the Indian Army, Kerala Police, and emergency service units, which are now in their fifth day.
Over 1,300 rescue workers are hunting for survivors through shattered buildings and beneath the debris using heavy machinery and sophisticated equipment.
Superstar Mohanlal to arrive in Wayanad today
Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is set to arrive in Wayanad today to oversee the rescue operations.
Mohanlal, who is also a lieutenant colonel, would visit the army camp and meet with rescue officials.

The Kerala government has issued guidelines for the gathering of DNA and dental samples, as well as the burial of remains. According to the rules, each body or body part should be allocated a unique identification number.
According to the guidelines, the identification number should be clearly stated in all samples, photographs, or films of the remains, as well as any records of material things related with the body.
Police should make all reasonable measures to identify the bodies or body parts, and if identification is not possible, the body should be released to the district administration for further action 72 hours after the inquest.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who visited Wayanad on Thursday and Friday, said Kerala has never witnessed such a horrific disaster as the Wayanad landslides. He stated that he would raise the issue with the Kerala government and the Centre.
