7 babies die in huge fire at Delhi Children’s Hospital

Authorities confirmed that a large fire that started late on Saturday at a children’s hospital in Delhi claimed the lives of at least seven babies.

At 11:32 p.m., the Delhi Fire Services reported receiving a call regarding a fire at a baby care center in the East Delhi neighborhood of Vivek Vihar. Up to 16 fire tenders were then dispatched to the scene.

12 babies were pulled from the building’s first floor, according to officials, but seven of them passed away while receiving hospital care.

Five children are currently being treated at the hospital.

An investigation is ongoing to determine what caused the fire, and the hospital’s owner is the target of a lawsuit.

CM Kejriwal expresses grief

“Heart-rendering” is how Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal described the fire at the children’s hospital.

“The causes of the incident are being investigated and whoever is responsible for this negligence will not be spared,” he posted on X.

In a different incident, a residential structure in Krishna Nagar, Delhi, caught fire early on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of at least three persons.

Chief of Delhi Fire Services Atul Garg stated that the fire was under control by 7:20 a.m. after they received a call about it at 2:35 a.m.

“A total of 13 people were rescued but three were declared dead,” he said.

Earlier Saturday, a major fire broke out in a gaming zone in Gujarat’s Rajkot, killing 27 people, including nine children.

“The bodies are completely charred and it is difficult to identify them,” Assistant Commissioner of Police Vinayak Patel said.

President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the incident.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
