A semi-naked and decapitated female body was discovered on the Kanpur-Delhi highway in Gujaini, causing intense agitation among the police. Upon discovering the body on the highway in Kanpur’s Gujaini, locals notified the police, who arrived at the scene and commenced an inquiry.
Police yet to make a progress in case; identity of woman unknown
The authorities have not yet had any success in solving the case and are working to determine who the woman is. Ravinder Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), stated that the woman suffered fractures to her bones and teeth. There was no mobile phone, purse, or identification card found close to the deceased person.
The woman’s body has been taken for a post-mortem examination. Marks from a blunt object can be seen on the body. DCP Kumar stated that they are looking into this case from both a murder and accident perspective. The Deputy Commissioner of Police stated that the police network has been put into action to collect details on the deceased individual.

Police probing murder as well as an accident angle
Authorities are checking the CCTV cameras along the highway to make progress in the investigation.
Kanpur Additional Commissioner Harish Chandra suggested that the woman’s death could have possibly been caused by a road accident, although the exact reason was unclear.
“There is a chance that the accident was due to a large vehicle. The head was intact. The rupture had occurred as a result of the injury. Now it has been discovered. Garments have also been discovered. Further information will be disclosed following the autopsy report,” he said.

Opposition blames Yogi administration
At the same time, the event has triggered a political blame-game in UP, as opposition parties criticize the Yogi Adityanath administration for the state’s law and order problems and violence against women.
“In yet another tragic case of violence against women in UP, a decapitated, undressed corpse of a woman was discovered on the Kanpur highway. According to morality, the brutal violence and severe physical torture experienced by the victim should not be brought up,” Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi echoed her INDIA bloc partner while highlighting that 86 women are raped and abused every day in India.
