July 6, 2026: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is scheduled to hold a high-level meeting on Monday to deliberate on key administrative and financial issues amid an ongoing investigation into the alleged embezzlement of donations collected through the Ram Temple’s donation boxes. The meeting is also expected to consider the resignations of General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Dr Anil MishraShri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust , whose names surfaced during the inquiry.
Convened by Trust treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri, the meeting will begin at 3 p.m. at the guest house within the Ram Janmabhoomi complex. Originally planned at Mani Ram Chhawni, the venue was shifted owing to security considerations, with all trustees directed to attend in person.
The gathering will mark the first in-person meeting of all trustees since allegations of financial irregularities emerged. Trust officials have remained largely silent in public as the investigation progresses.
Resignations and Administrative Restructuring
According to sources, the trustees will first discuss the resignations submitted by Champat Rai and Dr Anil Mishra, both of whom stepped down after being linked to the controversy. While their statements have been recorded, no criminal case has been registered against either of them.
If their resignations are accepted, the Trust is expected to deliberate on restructuring its administrative setup. The role of special invitee Gopal Rao is also likely to come under review.
The Trust currently comprises 11 regular members. With the resignations of Rai and Mishra, along with the recent demise of trustee Bimlendra Mohan Pratap Mishra, the Trust is left without a vice president to preside over meetings in the absence of president Nritya Gopal Das.
SIT Findings and Financial Approval
Trustees are also expected to receive a briefing on the interim findings of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is conducting an administrative inquiry into the alleged embezzlement. The SIT’s tenure has been extended until the end of July.
Separately, police are carrying out a criminal investigation following an FIR lodged on the Trust’s complaint. Statements of Champat Rai, Dr Anil Mishra and Gopal Rao have been recorded by both the SIT and investigating officers, although no FIR has been filed against any of them.
The meeting is also expected to approve the Trust’s audited balance sheet and financial statements for the 2025–26 financial year, including details of income, expenditure and other financial records.
