Meeting scheduled at 6:30 in the evening

A group of young doctors will go to Nabanna on Wednesday to discuss their unmet demands with the Chief Secretary, protesting the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in a Kolkata hospital. The discussions are anticipated to occur at 6:30 in the evening.

At an earlier time, the doctors who were protesting had emailed Chief Secretary Manoj Pant, stating their willingness to meet him in order to address their requests, which included the dismissal of the Health Secretary.

During a five-hour meeting on Tuesday, doctors reiterated their commitment to continuing the strike until all of their demands were addressed, following discussions with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

After meeting with Mamata Banerjee on Monday, the protesting doctors were informed by the Chief Minister that their demands had been mostly accepted by the state, which included the relocation of Kolkata City Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal.

Mamata Banerjee also declared the establishment of a top-level committee led by the Chief Secretary to tackle the doctors’ requests.

The doctors have been protesting for more than a month concerning the rape and murder of the trainee doctor, who was found with her body partially naked in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9, leading to protests across the country.

In addition, doctors are requesting actions to guarantee sufficient restroom facilities, installation of necessary CCTV cameras in state-owned hospitals, suitable housing for doctors, enhanced security, and student union elections to take place.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
