Prajwal Revanna returns from Germany; arrested in Sex tapes Case

Prajwal Revanna, a Janata Dal (Secular) MP who has been out of the country since the sex recordings scandal broke, was detained in the early hours of Friday after arriving in Bengaluru from Germany. He was apprehended by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) created by the Karnataka Police and transported to the CID office for questioning.

The Karnataka SIT dispatched a team of women cops, led by a woman IPS officer, to arrest the JD(S) MP in what appeared to be a symbolic message. Up to five female police officers arrested him.

As part of the inquiry, the SIT forwarded the sex films to the Forensics Science Laboratory Division while also attempting to identify the primary equipment used to record the obscene recordings. They need to know which cell phone was used to record the recordings and will ask Prajwal Revanna about it.

According to police sources, the primary device has been destroyed, and if investigators are unable to recover it, the JD(S) MP will face an extra charge of “witness tampering”.

Prajwal Revanna left the country in April

Prajwal Revanna, an NDA candidate seeking reelection from the Hassan Lok Sabha seat, departed the country in April after explicit video tapes of him reportedly sexually abusing many women circulated in Karnataka.

Hassan voted in the second round of the Lok Sabha elections on April 26.

Prajwal Revanna has currently been charged with three rapes. Speaking to reporters, Prajwal Revanna’s lawyer Arun G, stated that his client came back to India to join the probe and “give his cooperation for interrogation purposes”.

“He was held at the immigration center yesterday, as is standard practice. He has come to participate with the investigation, which is exactly what he has been doing. In addition, he requested that the media not conduct any media trials,” he said.

Prajwal had shared a video message earlier this week

Earlier this week, he sent out a video statement stating that he would come before the investigative team on May 31 and comply with the investigation. He further alleged that the cases filed against him were fraudulent.

Prajwal Revanna said that after the issue broke out, he went into “depression and isolation” and that “political forces” were at work in Hassan.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
