Prime Minister Modi had previously inaugurated the first 17-kilometer priority section of the RRTS project, from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot in Ghaziabad, on October 20, 2023. The NCRTC has been working diligently to expedite the construction of the subsequent section from Duhai to Modinagar (north), which is set to be opened virtually on March 6.
Initially spanning 25 kilometers with stations at Muradnagar, Modinagar (south), Modinagar (north), and Meerut (south), the inaugurated section has been truncated to 17 kilometers due to pending work on the entry/exit of the Meerut (south) station. Safety inspections are in the final stages, and passenger operations are expected to commence shortly after the section is declared open.

The inauguration of the Duhai-Modinagar section is anticipated to enhance connectivity and convenience for commuters, enabling seamless travel between Sahibabad and Modinagar (north) in Ghaziabad district, covering a distance of 34 kilometers with eight stations.
Additionally, parking facilities at RRTS stations have been meticulously planned to accommodate commuters’ needs. Vehicles will enjoy free parking for the first 10 minutes, with nominal charges ranging from ₹25 to ₹200 based on duration and vehicle type.
