With the launch of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS section, PM Modi underscores the BJP’s commitment to modernizing urban infrastructure. During the event, he called out the AAP government’s inefficiencies, citing crumbling roads and poor civic management, and urged Delhiites to welcome a “double-engine government” for holistic development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated a 13-km section of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor, connecting Sahibabad in Uttar Pradesh to New Ashok Nagar in Delhi. Marking a significant milestone in urban transport, this section now brings the high-speed Namo Bharat trains into the national capital.

During the inaugural event, PM Modi took a ride on the Namo Bharat train, traveling from Sahibabad station to New Ashok Nagar station. Along the journey, he interacted with passengers, including children, and underscored the transformative potential of modern transit systems like the RRTS.
With the inauguration of this stretch, the 55-km RRTS corridor between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South, featuring 11 stations, is now operational. Passenger services will commence from 5 pm, with trains running at 15-minute intervals. The fare for the journey from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South is set at ₹150 for standard coaches and ₹225 for premium coaches.
Notably, PM Modi had previously inaugurated the 17-km priority section between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot on October 20 last year.
A Vision for Delhi’s Future
Addressing a rally in Rohini after the event, PM Modi took the opportunity to highlight the BJP’s vision for transforming Delhi into a city of the future while sharply criticizing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
He accused the AAP government of wasting the past decade in constant conflict with the Centre and urged Delhiites to give the BJP a chance to bring about change.
“The Centre has been working tirelessly to improve Delhi’s infrastructure, from developing highways and expanding the Metro network to launching the Namo Bharat RRTS and establishing major hospitals,” Modi said. “However, the moment you step out of a Metro station, you are greeted with potholed roads, overflowing sewers, and endless traffic jams. This reflects the AAP government’s mismanagement.”
“A Decade of Disaster”
The prime minister referred to the AAP government as a “disaster” for Delhi, asserting that the BJP would ensure a corruption-free government and maintain all public welfare schemes while enhancing their efficiency.
“In the past 10 years, Delhi has witnessed a state government that is no less than an ‘aapda (disaster)’! Delhiites have realized this, and now the city is echoing with one sentiment: ‘Aapda nahi sahenge, badal kar rahenge (will not tolerate disaster, will bring change),’” he declared.
PM Modi emphasized that only when Delhi rids itself of this “disaster” will the “double-engine government” of the BJP bring development to the city.
The inauguration of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS section marks a new chapter in the capital’s urban mobility. However, the event also served as a platform for PM Modi to outline the BJP’s vision for Delhi and criticize the current state government. With elections on the horizon, this dual message of infrastructural progress and political accountability is likely to resonate deeply with Delhi’s electorate.
