Opposition parties have announced their intention to engage in the debate surrounding the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which is scheduled for discussion in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, yet they will firmly contest the suggested legislation “tooth and nail,” sources informed India Today TV.
This occurs as Opposition parties such as Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and CPI (M) convened to strategize prior to the Waqf bill being introduced for discussion and approval in the Lower House at 12 pm on Wednesday.
According to sources, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi stated that the Opposition intends to engage in the discussion regarding the Waqf bill but will oppose it in the voting.

CPI (M) leader John Brittas stated that the Opposition would resist the bill “tooth and nail” in the House debate, they claimed.
Sources indicate that all the Opposition parties have stated they would oppose the bill following discussions in the Lok Sabha.
Earlier today, sources cited by news agency PTI reported that the Congress provided a whip to all its Lok Sabha MPs, guaranteeing their attendance in the House for the following three days.
