A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) from the Army was killed, and three other commandos were wounded during a confrontation with terrorists in a secluded forest region in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the White Knight Corps of the Army, Naib Subedar Rakesh Kumar from 2 Para (Special Forces) lost his life and three other commandos sustained injuries in the clash that erupted on Sunday, November 10, in the Bhart Ridge region of Kishtwar.
“GOC (General Officer Commanding) White Knight Corps and all ranks salute the supreme sacrifice of braveheart, Nb Sub Rakesh Kumar of 2 Para (SF). Sub Rakesh was part of a joint CI (counter-insurgency) operation launched in the general area of Bhart Ridge Kishtwar. We stand with bereaved families in this hour of grief,” the Army’s White Knight Corps said in a statement.

Recent terror activities in the valley
The two militants were involved in abducting and murdering the two individuals from the Village Defence Group, reported the White Knight Corps.
During the gun battle, four Army paracommandos were wounded initially and were airlifted to Udhampur for medical care. Subsequently, Naib Subedar Kumar died from his wounds while receiving medical care.
A large-scale search effort was underway in the vicinity as this news was being reported to determine the precise whereabouts of the terrorists and eliminate them.
Earlier on Friday, November 8, in a different incident, two militants were also eliminated in Baramulla. This also happened during an anti-terror sweep operation, driven by intelligence input.
