Multiple examination centres in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district came under scrutiny after suspected cases of impersonation and organised cheating surfaced.

June 22, 2026: A major examination fraud racket was uncovered during the NEET UG 2026 re-examination in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district, where authorities arrested 30 people, including nine alleged impersonators who were reportedly taking the test on behalf of registered candidates.

The arrests were made following intensive checks at multiple examination centres. According to officials, one impersonator was caught at the KRK High School centre, seven at Kendriya Vidyalaya, and another at Hasanpur School.

In addition to the nine accused impersonators, 21 others were detained for their suspected involvement in facilitating the cheating operation. Investigators believe the case may be linked to a larger network involved in examination fraud.

The accused are being interrogated under the supervision of SDM Prabhakar Kumar and SDPO Shivam Kumar. Based on leads emerging from the questioning, special police teams have launched raids at several locations connected to the suspected racket.

District Magistrate Shailendra Kumar and Superintendent of Police Prerna Kumar are closely monitoring the investigation. Officials said more arrests could follow as the probe progresses.

Confirming the action, SDPO Shivam Kumar said that 30 individuals were arrested during the re-examination. Of them, nine were allegedly appearing in place of other candidates, while the remaining 21 were found to have links to the fraud.

Authorities have not disclosed further details, stating that the full extent of the network will become clear once the investigation is completed.

The incident has once again raised concerns about the integrity of competitive examinations and the challenges authorities face in preventing organised cheating. Examination officials have reiterated that strict verification measures were put in place for the re-test, and any candidate found involved in malpractice will face legal action as well as disqualification from the examination process.
