Narendra Modi tenders resignation to President Murmu
Narendra Modi is expected to be sworn in as Prime Minister for a third term on June 8, after the NDA just missed out on a majority by winning 292 seats, according to reports.
President Droupadi Murmu accepted Modi’s resignation as Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. Murmu requested that Modi continue in his position till the next administration took power.

If the NDA forms the government, Modi will become the second leader to serve a third term, after former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
PM Modi chairs meeting of Union Cabinet
Earlier in the day, PM Modi presided over a meeting of the Union Cabinet to assess the Lok Sabha election results and debate issues concerning the formation of the next administration, according to sources.
The meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence began at 11:30 a.m. This was the final meeting of the Modi 2.0 Cabinet and Council of Ministers.

Meanwhile, prominent NDA leaders began arriving in Delhi for a meeting of the alliance, which is expected to take place at 4 pm. The NDA leaders are expected to deliberate on the details of government formation.
The meeting will be attended by Nitish Kumar, the JD(U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister, and Chandrababu Naidu, the Telugu Desam Party president who is likely to become the next Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister.
According to sources, the BJP’s allies have already begun presenting demands to the BJP for the Modi 3.0 Cabinet. The JD(U) has demanded three Cabinet seats, while the Eknath Shinde Shiv Sena fraction wants one Cabinet and two MoS positions.
